About GAIN On Demand

GAIN On Demand exists to help students from all backgrounds learn, upskill and prepare for an exicting career in investment management.

Whether you are totally new to investing and finance, or whether you're preparing for your first role in investment management, GAIN On Demand has got you covered. 

GAIN On Demand is divided into courses - which you can take in order, or start at a place that works for you: 

#1 Investment Management Fundamentals
In this course we go deep into the world of investment management. From understanding why the industry is essential in our daily lives and why sustainable investing is important, to what types of things the industry invests in, and some industry myth busting!

#2 Investment Management Skills BuilderHere, we equip you with the essential skills to give you the best chances of landing a great job, and then thriving once you hit the desk. From financial statement analysis and how to value a company, to how to prepare a stock pitch and become a great storyteller - we've got your back!

#3 Investment Management Careers Navigator
This course is all about preparing you to land a great job in investment management. We leave no stone unturned, helping you find out about jobs in the industry, prepare for interviews and hit the ground running in your first role. 

How GAIN On Demand works
Each course has modules, more of which will be released throughout the next year. Each module has between 5 and 10 lessons, which take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and involves videos, interactive learning activities and on-the-go assessments. You'll never be bored! At the end of each module, it's your opportunity to show what you've learnt with an assessment - get over 80% and you get a GAIN certificate that you can add to your CV and even shout about on LinkedIn!

Each lesson is full of interactive learning activities, getting you as close to the 'real job' of being an investment manager. 

Comprehensive

We have designed GAIN On Demand to be challenging - completing a module is no mean feat! Complete all modules and you'll have everything you need to thrive in this industry. 

Accessible

We assume no prior knowledge of finance or investing. We don't expect you to be studying finance - we start from the basics, building strong and enduring foundations.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a module take to complete?

Each module starts off with a baseline quiz - just to see what level you're at. Then, there are usually 5-10 lessons in each module, each of which can take up to an hour (but many are shorter - 20 minutes or so). At the end, there's an assessment which you can take as many times as you want to get 80% and earn your certificate. 

Can I jump around, from one module to another?

We encourage you to take the modules in the order they're laid out, however you can jump into a new module if it's a specific area of interest. 

Does GAIN On Demand cost money?

No! And it never will do. It's part of our commitment to getting more young women and non-binary students into roles in investment management. 

How does GAIN On Demand interact with the rest of GAIN's programmes?

GAIN On Demand exists as a standalone learning journey. We would recommend you complete GAIN On Demand before starting one of GAIN's in-person programmes, however you do not need to complete an in-person programme to get the most out of GAIN On Demand!

Are GAIN On Demand certificates acknowledged by the industry?

Yes! We have designed each module with our industry sponsors and ensure that each module is robust enough to be worthy of a coveted GAIN certificate. 

You say interactive, am I going to be working with other people?

You can complete every module on your own. There is a commnity, where you can engage with other learners, asking questions and getting stuck in - but it's up to you!

What kind of tech do I need to get the most out of GAIN On Demand?

We recommend you use a laptop, tablet or desktop to complete GAIN On Demand. You can use your mobile, but the text gets a little small. We also encourage you download Microsoft Excel for some of the technical lessons.

What do I do if I've spotted a problem with GAIN On Demand?

What do I when I've completed GAIN On Demand?

Great work! When you've completed six modules make sure to download and share your certificates. Then, make sure to check your emails for updates from GAIN On Demand - more modules are coming in 2027.
